For most folks in this region, both of us are in the bonus.
Mid January for us is perhaps the best time of the year when it comes to temperature & weather.
The sunlight is shining & the sky has never been more orange. Plus, the heat pump is quiet. That only happens this time of year, for real, both of us can expect some sort of air conditioning demand love 8 months of the year. So when the Wintertide rolls around, I revel in having zero heating costs & welcome the utility bill every month. That said, I also love to consider weird strategies to help hold down the air conditioning costs when it’s time, it will be less than 2 months from now when the temperatures rise enough to where my wife wants to kick on the air conditioning. So this year, we have already talked about how we are going to approach that. And I love the fact that she is on board with me when it comes to reining in our cooling costs. Both of us went over the utility bills for the last few years & they are kind of ridiculous. Both of us shouldn’t be spending a car payment on air conditioning. So we are going with a certainly logical approach to this year & it starts in the Springtime. Instead of reaching for the air conditioning instantly, we are going to just leave the windows open & get used to the higher temperatures. By the time we are looking at temperatures in the nineties, we’ll be ready to turn on the air conditioning. But I know that acclimating to the higher temperatures will entirely help us when it comes to air conditioning demand when it’s entirely hot.
