When we bought our ductless HVAC system, one of the things we were told was that it never needed servicing.
I was doubting this remark, since it went from winter to summer in one unit.
We were using the HVAC system nearly all year round, and I was sure we needed to clean or something. I called my brother-in-law, who installed the ductless HVAC system, and asked if he was sure we didn’t need the ductless HVAC serviced? He asked me who told us that. After explaining it was the same person who installed the HVAC system, he lost his attitude. He said it doesn’t need a lot of servicing, but a professional HVAC technician should come to the house about once a year and clean the system. Mold and dirt can gather inside, and it needs to be flushed or it can pour out onto the floor. I wasn’t happy with this. I had the ductless HVAC installed about two years ago. I was wondering if the heat and air conditioning couldn’t be making my family sick. He came to the house that afternoon and flushed the entire system. He said it will be fine, and reminded me to call him in the spring and have him come over and do the servicing again. I’m sure I either heard him wrong, or he had spoken wrong, but I’m glad I questioned him about servicing the ductless HVAC system. We could have ended up with air that wasn’t healthy, or a huge mess in the house. I wasn’t prepared for either one.
