Her mom has been using the same heat pump for close to two decades

Mel’s mom has lived in their bungalow for close to two decades now.

And with any home, over time, things will depreciate and break down.

That’s especially true for the Heating, Ventilation & A/C unit, which is one of the pieces of equipment that they use almost, if not every day. It helps to keep them comfortable while they spend time inside our homes. Well, for close to two decades they have been living in their bungalow, Mel’s mom has never updated their Heating, Ventilation & A/C unit and she was surprised to know that the unit has not yet completely failed. Based on her knowledge, most Heating, Ventilation & A/C units have an average lifespan of between 10 to 20 years, depending on the type of unit. If you own a heat pump, the life expectancy should be around 10 to 15 years and boilers will last up to 20 years. However, with regular service, an Heating, Ventilation & A/C unit can last longer than expected. And that’s why her mom’s Heating, Ventilation & A/C unit has never broken down. Not only have they worked on the unit over the years, however they have also worked on it themselves. In addition, they have always changed their air filter within 60 to 90 days. Plus, they have gotten their HVAC duct cleaned and have installed a programmable thermostat. All the repair and smart decisions have led to them keeping their Heating, Ventilation & A/C unit in the best condition possible. Her Heating, Ventilation & A/C unit is only 3 years old, but Mel is going to take a page out of her mom’s book so that her unit can also outlast its lifespan. It’s the least she can do to protect the most used equipment in her home.
