Does peace of mind come with a price? You can’t really spend money for happiness – that’s a powerful lesson I’ve learned over the years, as I’ve gotten older.
I used to think that I wanted to live in a large luxury home and drive an expensive new car.
I thought that I needed to have more money than I actually did. I knew a lot of people who had lots of money. They seemed like they were thrilled. Over the years, though, I realized that they were not happy! They were just putting up a big facade. I am much happier than the vast majority of the people I know – the ones with more money than me. One of the big reasons is I love my job. My job isn’t high-paying, but I really love working in the heating and cooling industry. After high school graduation, I studied in vocational school to get my HVAC certification. I have been working as a heating and cooling contractor since. I really love helping people, and being in the community everyday. I work on both residential and commercial heating and cooling systems. The peace of mind that comes with an occupation like this cannot be bought. You can’t put a price tag on it. I love being able to help people make their homes nice and cozy in the winter, and cool in the summer. It brings me an indescribable satisfaction. It’s refreshing to be able to perform work that people need.
