My sister moved to Arizona where the nights are warm and the days are so hot no one went outside.
I asked my sister why she would move to such a horrible area, and she said it wasn’t horrible.
The heat wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it was. The desert heat was dry and easier to handle than the heat and humidity. I accepted her invitation to come visit, and headed West. I wasn’t out of the car before I was regretting my decision to visit. It was so hot outside the car that took my breath away. With no humidity, the heat felt like it was scorching my throat and drying me out. She pulled me into the house where I was assailed with cool and humid air. I instantly felt better, and I couldn’t wait to get into cooler clothing. Later that afternoon, my sister tried to talk me into going sightseeing with her, but all I wanted to do was stay inside in the air conditioning. She told me I was being foolish. There was air conditioning anywhere we went, including at the pool. I didn’t believe her, but I said I would go out. If it got too hot for me, I could find a place with air conditioning and sit inside and relax. She said she was proud of me, but she was a bit condescending when she said it. I remembered when she complained about the heat, and no one was condescending to her. They just told her that if she felt overheated, she should find somewhere that had air conditioning until she felt better.
