My pal and I had learn all about SEER and knew the numbers represented how energy efficient an air conditioning component was. Two years ago, the highest energy efficiency rating we could afford was a SEER of 17. This year, we wanted to see if we could afford an A/C component with an efficiency rating of over 20. The naïve part of me was thinking air conditioning units may have dropped in price, although I was mistaken! Just like everything else, the price went up. My pal and I were going to pay almost $1000 more for the air conditioning unit, than we would have if we bought it last year. My spouse warned me, although I didn’t want to hear it. Once the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C serviceman showed up, he pulled out pamphlets that provided us an idea on the price of a modern air conditioning unit. I knew what I wanted, although I didn’t think we were going to purchase it. I asked the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C serviceman if our old A/C component would last another year? He said it would really last two or three years, however the prices really would not go down. They may stabilize, however that isn’t a given. My spouse asked me what I thought? I told him that since the prices have been steadily getting higher, we may as well get the high efficiency air conditioning now, before the prices were much higher, and he agreed.
