Duct cleaning solves smell problems

Last winter, I decided to cook salmon for dinner.

The salmon was especially fishy smelling & tasting.

The smell from our meal spread through the entire house. That night, when my buddy and I noticed the scent was quite strong in our bedroom. The following morning, the smell continued to linger in every room, but i tried vacuuming, lighting scented candles & setting out boxes of baking soda, then unfortunately, with the outdoor temperature in the teens, it simply wasn’t possible to open the windows & take luck of fresh air. I finally did some research & realized that the smell had gotten into the HVAC duct. When there’s an accumulation of dust & other debris concealed inside the ducts, it can absorb smells & spread them throughout the living space every time the boiler starts up. This is an indication of problems with airflow through the HVAC duct & issues with indoor air quality. It was legitimately likely that there was dust, dander, harmful bacteria & potentially mold inside the ducts. I reached out to a local Heating, Ventilation & A/C corporation that specializes in duct cleaning. After testing & inspecting the duct system, the worker confirmed that cleaning was necessary. The cleaning process took several hours to complete but created no mess or disfigurement. The improvement was instantly apparent… Not only was the unpleasant smell eliminated but our apartment felt much more comfortable. The temperature from one room to another is now more consistent. I don’t need to vacuum or dust as often & our monthly heating bills are significantly lower, because the boiler doesn’t need to work as taxing to distribute heat, it should be more reliable.
