The air conditioning in our home broke down during the summer.
This was certainly one of the worst things that has ever happened to me at my home during the summer.
I am not someone who is able to live without central air conditioning for any length of time at all. I have a medical condition that makes me swell up around my joints if I get too hot. Having a central air conditioner in great working order is crucial to my health. Not only that, having low indoor air pollen levels inside of my home is crucial to myself and my family. I have a child with asthma and other respiratory issues, so having safe indoor air pollen levels is vital. Over the summer, we were having a major hot spell. The weather had just not been cooperating well around here. The temperature just kept going up and up. We were running the central air conditioner all the time. One day, we noticed that even though that air conditioner was on, our home was not cooling down like it should have. I checked the thermostat, and sure enough the temperature on the digital programmable thermostat was going up, not down! We were not sure what the problem was, so my husband called a neighbor who is a heating and cooling specialist. He told us over the phone what he thought the problem was. He also told us how to repair it!
