Solving the Cold Office Problem

I work in an office with two other women and two men. It’s a business office where the men wear suits all day long, and we women wear pant suits or dresses. We understand that the men get hot in their suits and that’s why the air conditioning is kept down so low, but the office is often freezing.We live in a subtropical area and we rarely need heat. We run the air conditioning all year long and we girls suffer all year long. We girls wore our sweaters, but they did nothing to warm our hands. Although we got few complaints, our clients often appeared cold, all except for the other men in suits. We girls occasionally complained among ourselves and one year, we finally agreed to do something about it. We had a genuinely creative idea. It was almost Christmas time and we were thinking about our annual gift exchange. We decided that we would get the two men in the office portable air conditioners to put in their office so that we could run the office central air conditioning at a more comfortable temperature for us. It was a little costlier than our usual gift exchanges, but we didn’t mind. It was the perfect idea! Now we can set the central air conditioning at seventy-four degrees and the men in suits won’t sweat because they have the portable air conditioners in their offices. This turned out to work beautifully, and working in the office is much more comfortable now, and more productive. It’s hard to type when your hands are half frozen.
