I was not anticipating regular heater service when I bought the electric heat pump from the local HVAC supplier.
I was head over heels for the heating equipment and overlooked anything that looked like a disadvantage.
It was the type of quality heating I had been dreaming about for a long time. Now six years later, the HVAC professional told me I needed a different heating device, preferably one that uses fuel. I was taken aback at first because, before my current system, I had another type of HVAC, but it was old and always in need of repairs, and I asked myself why I needed to go back. I had noticed some shortcomings with the current electric heating system but only when the temperature dipped below zero, but it was otherwise an excellent decision. When the heating technician saw my distaste, he meant a dual-fuel system. It would utilize the capabilities of my current system combined with, for instance, a gas boiler. This hybrid system would ensure that I have indoor comfort throughout the year, even when it is freezing. The minute he said this, I wanted it because, during winter, it was a struggle trying to keep the house warm enough. The fireplace helped immensely, but that was only in the living area; the bedrooms were different. When the HVAC serviceman started talking about contacting the heating business for heater maintenance for the hybrid system, I was very keen. Even with that to factor in, upgrading the electric heater seemed worthy of investment. I was also planning to switch to a HEPA filter and wireless thermostat.
