That was a blessing because I like more air conditioning than she does
Family is family and I’m fully down with that. That’s the way I was raised and it makes sense that family connections are a serious life priority. So when my wife’s dad died, I did anything I could do to support her in her grief and the new normal without her dad. I took time off from the commercial HVAC of the office just to be there. Whether it was to be an ear, to do errands, handle important details or just to put my arms around her, I stayed close. That’s what you do for family. Ultimately, my mother in law ended up staying inside the central air conditioning of our home for an extended amount of time. My wife’s mom and I have never really been close or are even all that fond of each other. But now, we’re family and she was welcome to stay as long as she needed to stay. Actually, she arrived shortly after selling her house after she upgraded the residential HVAC to get a big price on that house. With the money from the home and the insurance she was set. It was sort of understood that she would move close to us. But she also didn’t want to rush into buying something which was totally understandable. We put her up in the guest room like it was a small apartment. Thanks to zone controlled HVAC, she even had a thermostat of her own. That was a blessing because I like more air conditioning than she does. With six heating and cooling zones in the house, I can at least get all the cooling I want at night for sleeping.
